First learn more about the therapy you are considering and research the training of the person associated with our Centre to learn more about them. Most therapists provide free consultations that allow you to meet one-on-one, or at the very least you can discuss this over the phone prior to making any commitment to an appointment. After such a meeting you should feel comfortable with the therapist, and you never need to feel obligated to make an appointment afterwards if it doesn’t feel right for you.
Wheelchair parking is available for both entrances with clearly marked signage. The building is fully wheelchair accessible on both floors. For the upstairs level offices, you can park out front and use the long ramp that goes up the side of the building. There is a back door buzzer if you need any assistance to enter, and better yet please notify your therapist in advance of your arrival so they can be there on time to help you get to where you need to go.
For the lower level offices, park around back of the building and take the concrete ramp down to the back entrance door for ease of entry. Reception is located there (although staff may not always be behind the desk), and again it may be wise to notify your therapist prior to arrival that you may need assistance.
Both floors have wheelchair accessible bathrooms.
Unfortunately most natural/alternative health care services are NOT covered by OHIP (with the exception of certain Physiotherapy protocols). There sometimes is coverage by 3rd party/workplace insurance plans for such therapies as: Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Orthotics, and Psychotherapy. To be sure, we recommend you check with your policy to know what is covered in advance of your appointment. Receipts are issued by all therapists for services, and some fees can be claimed as an “allowable medical expense” for income tax purposes.
Depending on the therapist, there may be a short – but reasonable – wait time to be booked for an initial visit. Some of the therapists are not here every day so they will do their best to book you in at their next available time in the office.
None of our practitioners require a doctor’s note of referral; you can call directly to book your appointment. However keep in mind that certain insurance carriers may require an advance note from your medical doctor in order to obtain coverage for your care, so check your policy first.
You can call the main switchboard number of 613-756-6000 for more information. Each person books their own clients, so if you know who you are looking for, follow their individual link on the website for their direct phone number. This is usually the fastest way to get a response. Since many of the therapists are in session during business hours, always leave a message for them.
The offices are currently full but there is always the option to sublet if there are therapists that utilize their rooms on a more part-time basis. All inquiries should be directed to Dr. Colette Szalay at 613-756-6000. When a room rental does come up, priority is given first to existing tenants, secondly to sublet tenants, and then thirdly to outsiders who wish to join the Centre. We cannot guarantee exclusivity of a modality, meaning for example if there already is certain type of therapist in the building, another may be brought in and there can be overlap. All modalities and professional services are considered as long as they are in line with the mandate to offer health or general services that would improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and the community as a whole.
